The city of Mondovì, in southern Piedmont, is considered the capital of balloons due to its microclimate and its particular orographic conformation of the territory. It is one of the few cities in the world that has an aeroclub dedicated only to aerostatic flight and has a large concentration of pilots that has few equals in Europe. In fact, pilots from all over the world come to Mondovì to fly, especially in winter time. For 33 years, the usual International Hot Air Balloon meeting has been held during the epiphany period with crews arriving from all over Europe. 30 hot air balloons competing during three / four days of competition. And here is the summary of my flight during this year's edition aboard the balloon of one of Mondovì's veteran pilots, Paolo Bonanno, 78, also known as Mr Burner as he is the builder and inventor of the main burners that are currently located on board hot air balloons from all over the world. And here is the report of a beautiful flight on a wonderful day of flying festival where Mondovì was a happy island surrounded by the fog typical of the northern Italian plain.
